We’re delighted about how the year is unfolding so far and excited for the year ahead.

Now that the school holidays are upon us it’s time for our first 2011 “challenge” …

This term’s “Coastlens Photography Challenge” is to recreate a famous portrait.

You might like to choose a famous photograph portrait or a painting (or even a sculpture) – but the key is to identify one and see what you can do to recreate it. Feel free to be a little creative with the task and to take either a serious or humorous approach – the main thing is that you’re playing with your camera and hopefully learning to use it better!

Once you’ve taken your photos – choose your best 1-2, upload them to your Flickr account and be sure to add them to our Coastlens Group or tag them with #CoastlensFamous to help others find them. Linking back to this page might also help others know what you’re doing so that they can share in the fun.
